Varistor is the 1 type of voltage limiting protection device. The varistor and the protected circuit element are connected in parallel in the circuit. When lightning overvoltage, electrostatic overvoltage or transient operating overvoltage occur in the circuit, the varistor will quickly drop the voltage at both ends to a relatively fixed safe voltage value with a response speed of nanosecond time by using the nonlinear characteristics of the varistor, thus avoiding the damage of the protected circuit element due to the impact of overvoltage.
